| Munchkin Manor Daycare Emmet County's first WEBCAM daycare! |
| Hello there! Let me introduce you to our family. We are Chad and Sindye Alexander. We were high school sweethearts and have now been happily married over 16 years. We have four children ages 10-15. Our oldest two daughters are certified to help out with the daycare. Our family had a licensed daycare years ago in Gaylord, where we lived for the first several years of our marriage. We have also spent several years working with troubled teens as the founders of a 24-hour teen-crisis home. While Chad has always played a crucial supportive role in our past daycare and foster care endeavors, his main career thus far has been in Title Insurance for both real estate and mineral rights. However, due to recent down turns in the economy, he has found himself "displaced" from his career of over 20 years. He is looking at this as an opportunity to "change gears" and pursue a new career option. Chad is currently enrolled as a full time college student at NCMC in Petoskey and hopes to enter the world of law enforcement soon. Chad helps me with the daycare during the day and attends classes in the evenings. He is a great father, a wonderful friend, and the daycare kids find him super funny. I have spent most of my marriage as a happy stay at home mom, working from home in daycare and "foster care." I have also spent some time volunteering with Youth for Understanding, and we have hosted several foreign exchange students thru YFU. When my own children were all old enough to attend school, I thought it was time for me to go out and get a "real job," and was thrilled when I landed a receptionist position at a local real estate office. At first it was pretty exciting, mostly because it was a change from what I was used to. However, the "newness" soon wore off, and I quickly realized that I had already been doing what I LOVED all those years of doing home daycare while raising my own young children. What a wonderful revelation! When this realization "hit me," I began making plans to open a daycare.....but I wanted it to be more than just a "babysitting service." I wanted to put my all into it and make it the best, most professional daycare that I could. After all, even though I had been doing it all along to make ends meet, I now had a strong desire to make this my career. Its funny how some things are right in front of you and you still cant see them...... I am so glad I finally found my passion! Chad and I have both found that we are happiest when working with people --making a difference through love, respect and a positive example. Our desire to both put our own family first, and also to be able to make a difference in lives of others in our careers prompted us to start Munchkin Manor Daycare in 2007. We are so pleased with the overwhelming success that we have experienced in these first few years. I think families really like our webcams, our flexibility, and our family friendly perks such as Free Friday Date Nite and Bonus Hours. Our success along with my realization that I LOVE working with children has prompted me to finish my degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently enrolled in Penn Foster College and working on that goal with hopes to expand Munchkin Manor Daycare to a fully Licensed Childcare Center in the next several years. Wish me luck in attaining that goal!! We hope you enjoy these family photos: |
