FAQ's
However, it is the parents responsibility to check with us and be sure we have all
needed supplies for your child. If you happen to run out of diapers, I always have an
emergency supply here.
Diapers from my emergency stash will be added to the
weekly bill at $1 each.
We are hoping that dropping a fresh bag off on Monday and
taking it home on Fridays will simplify everybody's mornings.  We recommend that
all items which belong to your child are clearly marked with his/her name. This
includes tags on jackets, clothes, and blankets. Also, we are asking that each
parent provide a labeled spill-proof sippy cup to be left at the daycare for their child.

Are there pets or smoking in the home?  There is NO smoking in our
home --ever!. We do have two pet kitty cats, "Shadow," and "Gandalf." Shadow is
de-clawed and fixed, and Gandalf will be shortly (she's still a kitten). We hope that
this will not conflict with any allergies, because they are part of the family.

Can I visit any time? Of course, we have an open door policy with all parents
and pre-approved persons. (Please advise us if there is any sort of custody
situation) In addition, we provide webcams so that you can peek in on your kids
even when you cannot do a surprise visit.
What ages do you accept? We accept
all ages with preference given to children 12
months thru 5 years old, as they will benefit
the most from our preschool program and
daily routine.
If the time comes when you want
your child to attend another preschool part time
and Munchkin Manor Daycare part time, the full
time fee will still need to be paid since we
would need to hold a space for your child even
on days he/she may not attend daycare.

Is the daycare licensed? Yes! The
license is posted in the home. # DG240291867

How much childcare experience do
you have?
14 plus years, not only are we the
parents of 4, but we also ran a daycare in the
How many children can you care for?  We are licensed for
up to 12 children.
(This total does not include our own children, as
their age exempts them from being counted in  the ratio by the
State Licensing rules. Our oldest daughter can actually be an
assistant caregiver.)

How many adults care for the children? One caregiver
per 6 children.
Do you have a back-up care giver? Yes, I
do have a couple of ladies that are available to me
on an as needed basis in the event of an
emergency or a scheduling issue. Each "back-up"
caregiver is an experienced mother and a personal
friend.  Regular daycare assistants are required to
pass medical exams, background checks, and
CPR/First Aid training.
Do you ever transport the children in your own vehicles?
Occasionally this may happen. As a general rule, we do not plan on transporting
children. If we did so, there would be a reason. Perhaps a planned field trip or an
emergency. Unless the transportation is required for an emergency, permission
will be obtained ahead of time. All children will be required to be properly
buckled-up in age appropriate child seats. We are fully insured.

How do you handle potty training? Every child is different -- as a mother of
four, I
know this! There is no "magic" age that a child is
suddenly ready for the potty. Communication is key! We
will work with the child and the parents to help best
meet the needs of the child.
Pull-ups must be provided
by the parents, and children should be dressed in
clothing that is easy to get up and down (NO onesie
style shirts). Pull-ups will need to be worn at daycare until
the provider feels the child is "accident free." Children will be reminded and given
opportunity several times a day, and rewarded (never ridiculed) for their efforts
--regardless of the result! Practice makes perfect...they'll eventually get it!
Do you let the children watch television?  Occasionally.  As a general
rule, we do not encourage regular viewing of television, as free and creative play is
more essential for early development. There is a television in the upstairs living
room where children's programs can be viewed. Many children arrive between 6
am and 7:30 am ---way too early for loud and creative play. The TV is generally
tuned to Sesame Street this early in the morning while children rest and snuggle
their blankies. The TV may also come on later in the day, usually around 2:30 pm.
As children begin waking up from their naps, I try to keep the house as quiet as
possible until around 3pm. Watching an educational program keeps the awake
children quiet and engaged until every body is awake. TV viewing is limited by
licensing law.
Are there any special instructions for Pick-ups and Drop-offs?
Please do not park your car in the "U" shaped driveway in a way that would block
other cars. We consider the second entrance the IN side, and the first on the OUT
side. Please pull of to the side to allow other parents to drop of and pick up without
being blocked in.Also, once you are an established Munchkin Manor Family,
please
do not knock before entering -- please just walk right in (during normal
business hours).

What is your release policy? Who may pick up my child? In order to
keep your child safe, please provide us with a name and a photo of all people who
you approve to pick up your child.  A copy of their driver's license is best. This
information will be used to ensure that  your child is always in safe hands.
Children will only be released to pre-approved persons with prior verbal
consent of the parents.
If "Aunt Sallie" decides she wants to come pick up her
cute nephew......We would rather risk offending "Aunt Sallie" and keep your child at
daycare to ensure that your child is safe than allow them to be released to an
unauthorized person or a person without proper identification.

Where do the children take naps? The youngest toddlers are provided
with pack-n-plays in bedrooms, Older toddlers will nap on nap mats in the lower
level preschool room. Each child is assigned their own mat, blanket and pillow.
What if my child wants to bring toys from home?
Toys from home are allowed, however we prefer if you leave
them at home.
We have several bins of toys, and it always
seems that the toys brought from home are no where to be
found at pick-up time. Bringing toys to daycare is "at  your own
risk." (i.e. We don't have time to keep track of which toys belong
to which children. It is possible that it may not be able to be
found at pick up time. Be assured that we will make efforts to
find any lost item belonging to your child, but at our busy pick
up time, communicating with parents is our priority, not
searching for hotwheels cars. It may just need to be found
What should I pack in my diaper
bag?
We would prefer that diaper bags not
have to travel back and forth every night.  We
would prefer it if you left a pack of diapers for
the week, along with 2-3 changes of clothing
(more for potty trainers) -- one cool, one
warm. We will let you know if we are running
low on diapers or if we used an outfit.
past, have volunteered for church positions working with babies, children, and
teens, and we have opened our home for several years to troubled teens and a
few foreign exchange students.

Who else lives in your home?  Its just us --our family of 6. Please visit the
"Alexander Family" page for details.

May I have a list of character references? Yes! Please call if you
would like this information. For privacy reasons, I'd prefer not to publish the
names and phone #'s of my references on the website.
tomorrow. We hope you understand this.)

If you do send a toy with your child we ask that you keep in mind that this is a
daycare with children of various ages. Three things need to be considered:
1) Is it
safe? Are there small parts? If one piece gets misplaced will it ruin the toy?
2) Is it
clean and germ free? We take measures to sanitize our toys and play areas
regularly, and hope that you would have the same consideration when sending
toys from home.
3) Can it be shared? We understand if there is a special "teddy"
that is ONLY your child's and we will respect that
special item. However, if there are
various toys brought to daycare, your child should expect to share them with his
daycare buddies, or we will have to put it away and save it for use at home.

What is your daily schedule or routine like?
We do not follow a rigid schedule, but rather a flexible routine. Children's early
development years should be filled with play and exploration. We have scheduled
meals and nap times, but we will switch activities often throughout the year to fill
the different needs of the children enrolled. Each child is unique and learns and
develops at her own pace. I provide many opportunities for learning. Children will
have so much structure and work from Kindergarten on, Munchkin Manor will
provide a child led experience.  Please refer to our
daily schedule and planned
preschool learning activities for more information.
