Nutrition and Menu
will be provided on a basic schedule. Each day Breakfast (8am), Morning
Snack (10:30am), Lunch (12:30 pm), Afternoon Snack (3:30pm), Dinner (6pm),
and an Evening Snack (7:30 -8pm) will be served.
(Times listed are
approximate.)

If I wanted to send snacks from home, are there any
restrictions?
Not really. Please just be sure to provide enough for all the
children --- if you have questions about enrollment or attendance, please let
me know and I can get you the numbers. Some children may have food
allergies, so please disclose any common items such as peanuts, other nuts,
etc.

Do you provide Infant Formula and baby
food?
Parents of infants are required to provide
infant formula. We can discuss if you'd like to leave
a can or two with us each week, or if you'd like to
send prepared bottles on a daily basis. For babies
that have graduated to solid foods, rice & oatmeal
cereals, along with baby foods, and Cheerios will
be provided by the daycare.
Do you provide meals and snacks?  Yes! You can rest
assured that your child will be receiving healthy meals
because we participate with the food program with the
Northwest Michigan Regional 4-C's. Meals are required to
meet certain nutritional criteria each day. Meals and snacks
Do you feed babies on demand or on a schedule? A little of both,
actually. While it is our goal and attempt to keep infants on a feeding schedule,
a child will not be allowed to cry for long periods of time without being fed. In
an ideal world all babies would be on a perfectly timed schedule, as an
experienced mother, I know this seldom happens. Crying is your baby's way of
telling you she needs/wants  something. For the first several months this is
her only means of communication. When her needs are continually responded
to, andmet by parents and caregivers, this begins to
create trust, which leads to feelings of security and
less crying. We believe in helping infants to feel loved
and secure. We will always attempt to comfort a crying
infant. Babies are constantly growing, changing,
teething, etc. With so many variables a perfect
schedule isn't always possible. Flexibility is important.

( Note: At approx. 5 months, most babies are at the
age where they learn to manipulate parents and
caregivers by crying. Careful attention will be paid to
distinguish the reason for any crying......I just want it to
be clear that we will not neglect a child's needs for the
sake of keeping a schedule.)
